Do one thing, try to do it well.
I'll be using this little corner of the internet to rate all of my records, in alphabetical order. In the interest of fairness I'll avoid greatest hits and box sets, as the albums I'll rate will contain the hits anyways. New albums of note that I may get will be slotted in as I can get to them. I'm listening to all them on a pretty nice set of computer speakers complete with a big sub-woofer that blasts the bass under my desk. All the albums will be consumed in the same manner, one sitting run straight through. Some of them I will have listened too hundreds of times, but I will attempt to judge everything with fresh ears.
The scoring system is one I can't lay claim too, it's borrowed from the Rock and Roll Geek Show (where it was borrowed from someone else). It might be borrowed, but it's simple and effective. I'll rate a song a +1 if I like it, one/half if I kind of like it, zero if it's flat out terrible or I just don't feel it. So with a ten track album that has ten great tracks - that's a 10/10. If all the songs are just ok, then that's a 5/10. This scoring system isn't perfect, but it gives a pretty good sense of the album.
